Conceicao fires at Milan's board: "The club was absent"
Sergio Conceicao has gone public with his frustration. In a press conference, he said the club failed to back him when he needed it most: "We needed protection, but it never came" (1). This is a manager openly blaming his own board. That is not a good sign for anyone.
Milan start a training camp at Milanello tomorrow. The timing tells you everything. Two months of relegation-zone form, a fanbase in revolt, and now a public falling-out between the manager and the hierarchy (1) (6).
Eurosport called matchday 36 a "disastro Milan" in their player ratings (4). Corriere dello Sport puts it plainly: two months at relegation pace (2) (3). Champions League football next season is genuinely at risk (6).
Leao wanted by Man United — Milan ready to sell
Rafael Leao is on Milan's transfer list. That is the position the club is in right now. Manchester United are the most serious suitors, with reports of a £43m offer being enough to get the deal done (5). United have been tracking him closely and see him as their priority winger signing this summer.
Fenerbahce president candidate Hakan Safi has also travelled to Milan for talks over Leao, so there is competition (8) (9). But United look like the frontrunners.
Losing Leao on top of everything else happening at the club right now would be a gut punch for supporters. He is not a man the club should be selling unless they absolutely have to.
