AIK agree deal for experienced defender Hervé Matthys

AIK have reached an agreement with Belgian centre-back Hervé Matthys, a left-footed defender currently at Beerschot in Belgium (1). The 30-year-old has 134 Allsvenskan appearances from his time with IK Sirius and a short stint at Djurgården, and Aftonbladet reports both clubs must still finalise the fee. AIK sit 11th with a squad stretched thin, twelve players were unavailable for the win at IFK Göteborg, so adding an experienced, league-proven defender makes sense ahead of what promises to be a busy window.
