AIK hit back after Kakoullis presented by Omonia

AIK: "We still own the player"

AIK have hit back after Omonia Nicosia announced the signing of Andronikos Kakoullis. The Cypriot club presented the striker as their new arrival, but AIK insist he remains under contract in Stockholm.

"We are very surprised," said recruitment chief Miika Takkula. The club claim Kakoullis is only on loan at Aris Limassol and that conditions for a permanent move were never met. AIK state they still hold the player's rights. (1) (3)

Fan reactions

The situation has fans talking, with the story landing on r/soccer after Omonia's announcement was contradicted by AIK's swift public response. Supporters seem intrigued by the standoff, a Cypriot club parading a signing while the Swedish side insists the paperwork was never completed.
