Brännström speaks out on AIK player mutiny plot

Former coach confirms player mutiny plot

Andreas Brännström has gone on record about the most explosive allegation in the new book 'Fotbollsagenterna': that three AIK players planned to deliberately lose a match in 2023 to get him sacked. Brännström says he had limited authority at the time and reported what he heard to his superiors (1). "The trio hoped it would lead to the coach getting fired," journalist Andréas Sundberg writes in the book (3). Brännström was informed about the plot, which involved players allegedly urging teammates to throw a match (4). One of the implicated players denies any knowledge: "I have never heard of it" (4).

Agent firm's reach inside the club revealed

The book also claims that agent firm Universal had deep ties across AIK, with connections to players, leadership, and board members (2). The scale of the alleged influence adds another layer to the turmoil surrounding the club.
