Matthys eyes titles as Csongvai completes Saint-Étienne switch

Matthys ready for 90 on Saturday, eyes silverware

Hervé Matthys says he is match fit and ready to lead. The new AIK center-back confirmed he can handle a full 90 minutes when your team play on Saturday, despite only three weeks of preseason behind him (1).

"I'm ready," was the message, and he is not here just to make up numbers. Matthys talked openly about winning titles with AIK and embracing a leadership role in what he called a young squad (1).

Csongvai to Saint-Étienne, deal done

Áron Csongvai has left for AS Saint-Étienne. The move was confirmed Wednesday, with the French club announcing the midfielder as their fifth summer signing (2). The fee sits around €1 million.

Csongvai had already played his last match for AIK. No farewell tour, just a clean break.

Fan reactions

The Csongvai exit is splitting opinion. Some fans see a fair price for a player who wanted the move, others point out the midfield now looks thin. Matthys has lifted the mood, though, a leader who wants trophies, not a paycheck, and that is landing well.
