Pavey on Kalmar loss: Not the level we know

Pavey honest after Kalmar loss

Two goals in quick succession before the break, and that was it. AIK fell to Kalmar FF in a training match on Monday (2).

Charlie Pavey did not sugarcoat it. "We didn't reach the level we know we can," he told AIK+ (2).

The one bright note: Axel Edh returned to the pitch. Minutes in the legs before the competitive fixtures resume. That is what you take from a day like this.

Celina on his way out

Bersant Celina is leaving. The attacking midfielder will join Saudi club Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer, his contract expiring at the end of July.

The deal frees up wages and closes a chapter that never quite ignited.

Defensive moves in the works

AIK have bids placed. Gais centre-back Oskar Ågren is one target, and Sirius defender Isaac Yawe Höök is another. The 4–1 derby loss to Hammarby exposed exactly why, reinforcements at the back are overdue.

Women's team flying

AIK Women thrashed Djurgården 3–0 in the derby. Ellie Junetoft, 17, led the charge. The squad paid tribute to pregnant teammate Linda Sembrant before kickoff. The women's side are giving you something to smile about right now.

Fan reactions

The Kalmar result landed flat among supporters online. Nobody is reading too much into a training match, but the pattern, conceding in clusters, struggling for sharpness, is starting to feel familiar. Talk has already turned to whether Ågren and Yawe Höök can arrive quickly enough to fix the backline before the Allsvenskan restart. Read the thread here.
