Qualification was the week's real win
Almirante Brown are in the Reducido. The 2–2 draw at Colón (Santa Fe) on 17 October gave them the point they needed, and the rest of the round's results confirmed it (1)(5). Seventh in Group A, 48 points from 34 games, +4 goal difference. The first time since 2023 they have reached the octogonal for the second promotion spot to the Liga Profesional (2).
That is the season's objective, and it is secured before the final two rounds. Read the form line against that and it gets stranger: L L L D D, no win since mid-September. They qualified without playing well. You take it.
Andrés Montenegro has found a shape he trusts
Bruno Galván, Pedro Velurtas, Enzo Cardozo, Gustavo Cabral, Gerardo Alegre Rojas, Tomás Villoldo, Ulises Abreliano, Santiago Gauna, Mariano Santiago, Luciano Pascual, Milton Zanotti. That is the XI that started in Santa Fe, and Montenegro is expected to repeat it against Deportivo Morón on Sunday at 19:30 CET (1).

Against Colón it held up well enough for the visitors to come from behind twice. Federico Rasmussen, who does not have to be generous about it, said Colón had gone four games without conceding and lost their defensive order in the draw (9). Almirante twice pulled back a lead away from home. That is not the mark of a team going through the motions.
Eight clásicos, no home win since 2010
The last time Almirante beat Morón at home in the Clásico del Oeste was 2–1 on 15 February 2010, in the Primera B Metropolitana (4). Eight home clásicos since then without a win. Fans know that number better than the table.
Sunday's edition has extra texture. Galván and Tobías Zárate both face their former club, a pattern that runs through this rivalry (7). Security will be around 250 officers, home support only, gates at 13.30, entry via José Rucci and Mármol to the Tribuna Popular Norte (6).
And there is a broader argument worth having. President Maxi Levy spent the week defending the Argentine format and the Ascenso TV model against European comparisons (8). Seventh of 18, five games without a win, still alive for promotion. The format is why this club's October still matters.
What to watch
Morón on Sunday, then Godoy Cruz away on 31 October. Two games to sort a shape before the Reducido starts, and the first real test of whether the Colón point was a turning point or a blip in a bad run. Watch whether Montenegro keeps the same XI and whether a team that has stopped winning in the league can start again with nothing but pride and seeding on the line.
