Ferro at home as Almirante Brown chase a promotion push

Ferro at home, and a season that is still live

Almirante Brown host Ferro Carril Oeste on Sunday 13 September at 15.30 at the Fragata Presidente Sarmiento, matchday 29 of the Primera Nacional (1). Both sets of fans are admitted, and the provincial security ministry has put a 250-officer operation around the stadium through APreViDe (1). Sixth of 18 in Group A, 45 points from 28 games, +7 goal difference. Seven rounds left after this one. This is the week the season stops being a project and becomes a target.

The point that changed nothing

Midweek brought a 1–1 draw at home to Defensores Unidos. No damage, no progress. Sixth place with 45 points in an 18-team group is a solid campaign, and the goal difference of +7 tells you the team is not winning games by accident. It also tells you something less comfortable: this is not a side that buries opponents. Seven matches left, and the difference between a promotion push and a mid-table finish is likely to be two home wins.

Relegation traffic below you is about to get heavier

Ituzaingó drew 2–2 with Comunicaciones and is now on the brink of the drop to Primera C (2). Only a victory was any use to them, and they did not get it. A win for either CADU or Brown de Adrogué will relegate them with seven rounds still to play (2).

Almirante Brown is not in that fight. But the fight is happening in the same division, and that changes the temperature of every remaining fixture. Relegation-threatened teams scrap differently in September and October. Brown de Adrogué, in particular, will not be handing anyone a comfortable afternoon.

What to watch

Ferro at 15.30, both terraces open, the security operation sized for a proper Primera Nacional crowd (1). A win takes Almirante Brown to 48 points and keeps the teams above them looking over their shoulder. A draw or a defeat hands the initiative back with six games left.

The Fragata has to be worth more than a point the rest of the way. Seven rounds, and the arithmetic is simple: home wins or nothing.
