Bruno Guimarães joins Arsenal as pre-season trophy hunt continues

Bruno Guimarães is yours, £75m done

The deal is official. Bruno Guimarães has joined Arsenal from Newcastle United for £75m (2). A midfielder who can do everything, and he knows it: "I would say I can pass the ball, run a lot and play like a warrior. I'll never give up" (2).

Arteta gets options. Guimarães can sit deep next to a defensive midfielder or push higher into the eight, giving your midfield a completely different shape when needed (2).

Guimarães wears No.39, and it means something

He is keeping his iconic No.39 shirt. The number honours his father, Dick, who drove a taxi, number 39, to support the family. "The number tells a story more beautiful than words can say," Guimarães said (3).

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle confirmed the move was already done before he arrived: "I met him quickly, but the decision was already made. He's a fantastic player and a great human being" (4).

Arsenal face Dortmund with silverware on the line

Your team plays Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season match with a trophy at stake (9). It is the last tune-up before the Premier League opener against Coventry City on Friday, August 21.

Romero wants the move, Tottenham are blocking it

Cristian Romero is open to joining Arsenal. Tottenham are resisting (8) (12). The centre-back is exactly the profile Arteta wants, and with Aston Villa genuinely worried about losing Ezri Konsa to your club, the defensive puzzle is far from settled (7).

Gyokeres could be sacrificed for Alvarez

The swap offer for Julián Álvarez is back on the table. Arsenal are prepared to include Viktor Gyökeres in a player-plus-cash deal with Atlético Madrid (6). Álvarez would be a statement signing up front.

Galatasaray turn their attention to Gabriel

Galatasaray have shifted their left-wing search from Rafael Leão to your Gabriel (5). No formal bid yet, but the Turkish club are circling.

Arsenal ask about Esposito, pass on Scott

Arsenal have enquired about Inter Milan attacker Francesco Pio Esposito (11). The 20-year-old is seen as a potential upgrade on Gabriel Jesus.

On the way out: Liverpool have a clear run at Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. Arsenal are not in the race (10).

Fan reactions

The mood is buzzing around Guimarães. Edu himself commented "Good Luck" on Bruno's latest post, and fans noticed (Reddit). The "I love this club" energy is real, supporters have spent the summer rewatching the trophy lift and celebrating the new arrival. One fan put it simply: "He said 'The Arsenal'. He's settled in already." Join the discussion
