Community Shield on Sunday, Osimhen push heats up

Community Shield, Sunday in Cardiff

Arsenal face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday in Cardiff (3) (6). It comes after a shaky pre-season, and the Como friendly did little to settle nerves: a 1–1 draw decided 4–3 on penalties, with Christos Tzolis converting the decisive spot-kick (15).

Arteta is not panicking. "I think we were able to tick a lot of boxes. It has brought some good strengths, but there are a lot of lessons to take, and we're going to be ready for Sunday" (8).

Osimhen is the priority

Arsenal are making a strong push for Victor Osimhen, with Galatasaray holding talks over the striker (12) (13). The two clubs have discussed a £38m deal, and Galatasaray have responded to the offer (13). One option is a swap involving Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri (12).

Konsa stance and a £60m ask

Ezri Konsa is open to a move, but Aston Villa want double Arsenal's opening bid, pushing the asking price toward £60m (2). If that collapses, Atletico Madrid's Marc Pubill is the alternative (10). One bid for Pubill has already been rebuffed (16).

Martinelli and Nwaneri up for discussion

Arsenal have invited offers for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri and are holding talks with Galatasaray (11). Galatasaray are interested in Martinelli at around €45m (5). Nwaneri is also considering an exit amid Everton interest (14).

Zubimendi valued at €90m

Arsenal have set a €90m asking price on Martin Zubimendi, with Chelsea and Real Madrid interested (9). No deal is close.

Lewis-Skelly is staying

Intermediaries appear to be pushing 19-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly toward a move, but neither the player nor Arsenal wants a transfer (7). Arsenal are not selling.

Saliba injury drives the defender hunt

The Konsa and Pubill chase is partly about cover for William Saliba, who is injured (2). That explains the urgency in the market ahead of the Premier League opener against Coventry City on Friday, August 21.

Fan-reaktioner

The Osimhen links dominate the chat, with supporters questioning the logic unless a big-name striker departs first. The Konsa price tag has drawn scepticism too, with Ben Jacobs' report that Villa want £60m-plus being shared widely. Read the thread here.
