Quansah talks open as Arteta weighs Nwaneri exit

Quansah talks open

Arsenal are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah (1). He left Anfield in July 2025 and it's barely 13 months later.

Leverkusen sources insist no approach has arrived yet, and they plan to keep a player under contract until 2030 (fan post 1). The move could sting Liverpool, who let him go.

Tribunal for teenage striker

Arsenal and Liverpool couldn't agree a fee for 16-year-old Vincent Joseph (2). A tribunal will now decide what Arsenal must pay the Reds for the striker (2).

Arteta: "trying the maximum"

Mikel Arteta is pushing hard before the window shuts Sunday. "We are trying the maximum that we can to end up in 14 days, 13 days in the best possible condition to compete for every possible competition" (3). The Community Shield against Man City comes first (5).

Nwaneri's door is open

Arteta left the door open for Ethan Nwaneri to leave (7), and admitted he and other fringe players could be sold (4). "I want him to be at the club. But in the medium, long term, what is best for the player as well. Ethan needs to play football" (fan post 4). Galatasaray negotiations reportedly involve both Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli, with Victor Osimhen named as a top target (6).

Fan-reaktioner

Fans zeroed in on two names: Quansah and Timber. The Quansah links drew skepticism, with supporters pointing out Leverkusen's denial and the 2030 contract, while others dug into what he'd actually add to Arteta's side. Timber's recovery update mattered more to many: Rice, Saka and Zubimendi are in contention for Sunday, Saliba is a long-term injury, and Timber is still a few weeks out. Read the Quansah thread
