Timber and Saliba out, Arsenal chase Chelsea firepower

Timber still weeks away, Saliba in rest mode

Mikel Arteta delivered an update nobody wanted to hear. Jurrien Timber is still weeks from returning, and the manager would not put a timeline on it.

"I cannot be very precise with that," Arteta said after Arsenal's pre-season defeat by Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. "Jurrien is progressing really well, he's on the pitch, he's doing quite a lot right now, but is still weeks away. I cannot say how much" (2).

William Saliba is also sidelined, Arteta described him as being in rest mode. Two starting defenders missing with the Premier League opener 11 days out.
