Two wins from the title, a Champions League final booked

Premier League: two wins from the title

Arsenal are two games from ending a 22-year wait for the league. A Leandro Trossard goal in the 83rd minute settled it 1-0 at West Ham on Sunday, and the points were secured after a VAR check ruled out Callum Wilson's stoppage-time equaliser (1) (7).

Myles Lewis-Skelly was clear afterwards: "The job is not done" (7). But with a game in hand at the top, the maths is very much in Arsenal's favour (3).

Jamie Carragher backed the VAR call firmly, saying only people who don't want Arsenal to win the title had a problem with it (8). West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was frustrated, though even he acknowledged the decision itself was technically correct (9). A Premier League official has since called for a rule change to avoid similar controversy in future (12).

Champions League: Arsenal are in the final

Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the second leg to reach the Champions League final. First time in the final since 2006 — 20 years (2).

The opponent is PSG. They knocked out Bayern Munich in the other semi-final, surviving a late Bayern goal to go through (5). It is the biggest club match Arsenal have played in two decades, and they now have a genuine shot at the double.

Gabriel: the toughest defender in the league

Chelsea forward Joao Pedro named Gabriel as the hardest defender he faced all season. That includes defenders from Champions League opponents (10). Good to hear — and not a surprise to anyone who has watched Arsenal this year.

Transfer: Cambiaso on the right-back shortlist

Arsenal are reportedly tracking Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso ahead of the summer window. The interest is driven by injury concerns over both Jurrien Timber and Ben White (13). Nothing concrete yet, but it is a position that clearly needs attention.

Beth Mead leaving at the end of the season

Beth Mead will leave Arsenal Women this summer after nine seasons. She scored 86 goals in 263 appearances and won the Women's Champions League in 2025, when Arsenal beat Barcelona in the final (14). A proper club servant — she deserves a brilliant send-off.
