Kane fires England past Croatia as Real Madrid circle for Olise

Real Madrid ready €220m for Olise

Real Madrid are reportedly willing to bid up to €220 million for Michael Olise (8). That is the number floating around this morning. Olise shone on the first World Cup matchday too, along with Harry Kane and Luis Diaz (11). No formal offer yet, but the size of the rumoured bid means this will not disappear quietly.

Kane's brace buries Croatia

Harry Kane scored twice as England beat Croatia 4–2 at the World Cup on Wednesday (2). Thomas Tuchel did not hold back afterwards: "If you see the commitment of our captain, of our No 9 in the extra time, to block a crucial shot after a set-piece with all his body and his commitment to buy into a defensive action like this then you know everything about his performance today" (2). Your number nine is in peak form.

Neuer confirms Germany retirement after World Cup

Manuel Neuer has confirmed he will retire from the German national team after the World Cup (4). At 40, he became the oldest German player in history during the 7–1 win over Curaçao. From next season onward, his focus belongs entirely to Bayern.

Saibari deal in the final stretch

The Ismael Saibari transfer is reportedly close. Moroccan journalists describe him as someone who "can be the future of Bayern" (10). The PSV midfielder would strengthen a midfield already built to dominate. Nothing signed yet, but the signals are clear.

Müller wants Bayern to sign Manzambi

Thomas Müller has publicly recommended Bayern take a close look at Johan Manzambi of SC Freiburg (3) (9). "Das ist für mich einer, den sich auch der FC Bayern mal genauer anschauen sollte," Müller said, that is one Bayern should examine more closely. Manzambi has been turning heads at the World Cup.

Hoeneß on the transfer philosophy

Uli Hoeneß has laid out the thinking behind Bayern's spending. "It was important to strive for sporting success, but based on sound financial management. If we had suddenly ended up with a loss of 40 or 50 million, everyone would have been asking: What's going on at Bayern Munich?" (1). He added that a coach and sporting director must factor that in.

Bayern tie down homegrown keeper Bärtl

Bayern have renewed Jannis Bärtl to a long-term contract (7). Sporting director Michael Wiesinger called him "a true homegrown talent" who has been a regular in first-team training. With Neuer winding down his international career, the goalkeeping pipeline matters.

Palhinha's price tag sends Sporting elsewhere

Bayern's reported €25 million demand for Palhinha has pushed Sporting CP toward an alternative target, Altimira (6). Palhinha remains at Tottenham for now. No movement on Bayern's side.

Fan reactions

The mood is buoyant. A thread titled "Bayern players are on fire at the World Cup" captures the moment, Kane, Olise, and Diaz all delivered on the opening matchday (r/BayernMunich). Another fan joked that France "cloned Upamecano," with two dominant centre-back performances to show for it (r/BayernMunich). The transfer window chatter is lively too: Legia Warszawa signed Robert Deziel Jr from Bayern II, and there is cautious interest in Rashford at the right price (r/BayernMunich).
