€25m bid lands for the Estádio do Bessa as auction goes live

Someone just bid €25m for the Bessa

The online auction for the Estádio do Bessa has drawn a bid of €25 million, and the bidder has already paid the €25,000 deposit required to stay in the process (1) (2). That deposit means this is not a phantom offer, someone is serious. The auction is now live, and a bidding war could push the price higher (1).

Why this auction matters so much

Boavista's SAD is racing to submit a new recovery plan to the court, hoping to halt the liquidation process. The insolvency administrator has asked for the stadium sale to be suspended, but the court has so far refused to stop it. The Panteras Negras supporters' group has accused the board of trying to "kill" the club outright. If the Bessa is sold and the recovery plan fails, Boavista faces being reduced to the "minimum indispensable" level of sporting activity, essentially, a shell of what the club has always been.

A small bright spot on two wheels

Away from the courtroom battles, Fábio Costa of the Feira dos Sofás-Boavista cycling team won the second stage of the 46th Grande Prémio ABIMOTA and took the overall lead. A small reminder that the Boavista name still competes and still wins.

World Cup watch: old faces on the big stage

Several former Boavista players have been named in final squads for the 2026 World Cup. Alireza is in with Iran, Gorré with Curaçao, and an ex-Sporting man with Ecuador. Litos, the former Boavista defender, summed up the club's situation bluntly: Boavista "needs a sheik" to recover.
