United in talks for Andrey Santos at £50m
Manchester United want Andrey Santos and the clubs are talking. Chelsea's asking price is £50m for the 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder (1) (2). Club-to-club talks are underway, with United pushing to get it done (1) (3). Santos joined Chelsea in January 2023 but has struggled to lock down a regular spot. Selling to a direct rival at that price would be good business, but it stings if he kicks on at Old Trafford.
Enzo Fernandez wants out, agent confirms
Enzo Fernandez is looking for an exit. His agent Javier Pastore confirmed it: "We are looking at possibilities to leave Chelsea, but there is nothing firm or confirmed at any club" (4). Liverpool are in the mix. Reds head coach Andoni Iraola has specifically requested the midfielder (4). PSG and Bayern Munich are also circling. Pastore added the player is focused on the World Cup with Argentina for now, talks will happen after (4). The contract dispute that started all this dates back to November. No agreement on a new deal, and none coming.
Academy teenager set for first senior loan
A 19-year-old Chelsea academy player is heading out on his first senior loan this summer (5). No name yet, but the move is expected to be finalised soon. The pathway from Cobham to senior football keeps producing.
Fan-reaktioner
The Santos news has split opinion. Some fans see £50m for a player who never broke through as a no-brainer, sell. Others are wary of watching another young midfielder thrive elsewhere. The Enzo thread is more raw: frustration that a £120m signing ends like this, and plenty of blame aimed at the contract standoff that started in November. On a brighter note, Xabi Alonso's wife posted about packing for the move, and Estêvão is already back at Cobham training, that has lifted the mood. More on the Santos talks
