£117m Rogers deal agreed
Chelsea have a verbal agreement to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for £117m (€137.6m) (1) (2) (3) (4). David Ornstein broke the story (4). Rogers also had Arsenal in for him but chose Stamford Bridge (7). It will be a club-record fee, the fourth most expensive signing in English football history (6). The 22-year-old England attacker is expected to complete the move on Monday (1).
Jackson could head the other way
Aston Villa asked about Nicolas Jackson during the Rogers negotiations (5). Villa have long admired the striker under Unai Emery. The conversation did not advance immediately, and Chelsea are still weighing up Jackson's future (5) (11).
Fan reactions
Fans are already connecting the dots on Joe Shields, Chelsea's co-director of recruitment: Rogers would be the seventh former Man City youth player signed since the takeover, alongside Palmer, Lavia, Tosin, Sancho, Delap, and Gittens. Some supporters are also tracking the Garnacho saga closely, with Fabrizio Romano reporting the winger is giving priority to Roma as talks continue over a loan with obligation structure.
