Demirbay says his words were twisted
Kerem Demirbay has spoken about the interview comments that upset Galatasaray fans. He now plays for Kasımpaşa, and he faces his old club on Friday.
On Galatasaray's four straight titles he said: "Bu süreçte maddi ve manevi anlamda birçok zorlukla karşılaştık. Ancak yaşananlar her zaman takımın içinde kaldı, dışarıya yansıtılmadı. Sözlerimin çarpıtılması sonucunda Galatasaray camiasında oluşan kırgınlığın farkındayım ve bundan dolayı üzgünüm" (9) (10) (13) (14).
His original line was: "Düşündüklerimi söylesem var ya, çok büyük patlayacak her yer" (9).
No Icardi return, his agent says
Mauro Icardi's agent Elio Letterio Pino has shut down talk of a comeback. "Nadie se ha puesto en contacto con el Galatasaray y nadie le ha suplicado al Galatasaray que Mauro regrese. Esto es una noticia falsa. Es un invento" (12).
That follows the explanation from president Dursun Özbek on why Icardi left (11). The Argentinian is still without a club.
Wages cleared before the hard stretch
The club has reportedly paid off all outstanding player wages, with the management acting before this run of fixtures (4). Kasımpaşa at home, Barcelona at home, then Genclerbirligi away and Lille away.
Fan reactions
Fans are split on Demirbay's follow-up statement, with some reading it as a genuine apology and others pointing out he now wears a Kasımpaşa shirt. The Osimhen training news drew the most optimism, coming days before Barcelona arrive.
