Bjørkan arrives as Helstrup sets out his tactical blueprint

Bjørkan joins the dugout

Malmö FF have named Aasmund Bjørkan as assistant coach, completing Gaute Helstrup's staff (1). Bjørkan arrives from Norwegian football, where he worked with Helstrup previously. "There's something special about the potential here," Bjørkan said (1). He is the second new face in the coaching setup after Helstrup was appointed last week.

Helstrup wants 4–3–3, 65% possession

Helstrup is reshaping your team step by step. The new head coach wants a 4–3–3 shape and 65 to 70 percent possession (2). It will not happen overnight. The transition starts Sunday against IFK Göteborg in his first match in charge.

Taha Ali back for the derby

Taha Ali could feature against IFK Göteborg (2). Having him available for Helstrup's debut is a boost. Ali's pace and directness fit the wide role in a 4–3–3.

Assadi frustrated in Chile

Lucas Assadi is not happy. The Chilean playmaker wanted a move to Malmö FF, but the deal was blocked (3). He then extended his contract at Universidad de Chile to 2028, and has since been benched for six straight matches (3). A window could open again if his situation does not improve.
