Bjørkan joins Helstrup's staff from Bodø/Glimt
Malmö FF have appointed Aasmund Bjørkan as assistant coach, arriving from Bodø/Glimt to strengthen Gaute Helstrup's new staff (1) (3). Bjørkan did not hide his excitement. "There is something special about the potential here," he said (1).
The move completes Helstrup's inner circle as he prepares for his first match in charge, against IFK Göteborg.
Helstrup wants 4–3–3 and 65–70% possession
Helstrup is reshaping Malmö step by step. The new head coach wants a 4–3–3 system with 65 to 70 percent possession (2). It will not happen overnight, he has made clear the shift is gradual.
Taha Ali is in contention for the Göteborg match (2). That is a boost ahead of Helstrup's dugout debut.
Assadi frustrated after Malmö move blocked
Lucas Assadi wanted the move. Malmö tried to sign the Universidad de Chile midfielder, but the deal was stopped and Assadi instead extended his contract to 2028 (4).
Since then he has been benched for six matches, and reports out of Chile say he is frustrated (4). The door looks shut for now.
