Botheim hattrick powers Molins debut win

Molins era starts with a bang

Guillermo Molins' first match as Malmö FF manager could hardly have gone better. A 5–2 demolition of Halmstad BK at Eleda Stadion, and the three points were desperately needed (1) (2). The win snaps a miserable run of three straight league defeats and lifts the mood around a club that has been under serious pressure.

Botheim's eight-minute hattrick

Erik Botheim was the undisputed hero, scoring three goals in under eight minutes to bury Halmstad (3). "It's a big day for me," the striker told TV4 after the match (3). He was simply unplayable, the kind of individual performance that can turn a season around. After the final whistle, Molins joked about hoping Haaland, Strand Larsen, or Sörloth might be forced to withdraw from their national teams (1), but the real story is Botheim making his case loud and clear.

Svanberg comeback delayed

Any hopes of a summer reinforcement are on hold. Clear signals indicate Svanberg will not return to Malmö FF this summer as previously speculated (4). The club will have to look elsewhere or wait longer.

Fan reactions

The match thread was pure relief. Fans celebrated Botheim like a returning hero and there's already optimistic chatter about Molins unlocking something that was missing under the previous regime. One supporter summed it up: finally, something to smile about. Read the full match thread
