Degerfors 1–0, Molins' last stand goes flat
Malmö lost 0–1 at Degerfors on Saturday in Guillermo Molins' final match as interim coach (1). The defeat leaves your team 9th in Allsvenskan with 13 points from 10 matches. No goals, no points, no lift before the new era begins.
Helstrup gets the job, Horneland was the one they wanted
Gaute Helstrup is the new Malmö FF head coach, replacing the sacked Miguel Ángel Ramírez (2). But FotbollDirekt's Fredrik de Ron said the club wanted Eirik Horneland first: "I would have preferred Horneland and I think Malmö did too, but Helstrup is perhaps the next best option" (2) (4). De Ron did not sugarcoat the appointment either. "It's a huge gamble and there is a big risk it won't work out," he said in the Direkt studio (2). Helstrup arrives from Tromsø and previously worked at Bodø/Glimt (2).
Molins hands over the reins
Molins took charge for the Degerfors match knowing Helstrup was already appointed (2) (3). The arrangement was public before kickoff. A strange send-off for a club legend. He steps aside now as Helstrup takes over the rebuild.
Botheim on Garcia: my job is to play
Erik Botheim kept it simple when asked about Diego Garcia's arrival from Leganés. "My job is to play," he said, addressing the new competition up front (3) (5). Garcia signed through 2029 and adds depth to an attack that fired blanks at Degerfors.
