Helstrup named Malmö FF head coach, Adjei deal at risk

Helstrup appointed: "Can be very, very good"

Malmö FF have their man. Gaute Helstrup is the new head coach, the club confirmed Tuesday. Sporting director Philip Berglund: "The recruitment process has been intense but thorough. We met a number of candidates and are incredibly happy we landed on Gaute Helstrup" (1).

His first match is Saturday, away to Degerfors (2).

Colin Rösler backed the move. "Can be very, very good," he said of Helstrup's fit at Malmö (3). Rösler knows the Norwegian coaching landscape and does not hand out praise lightly.

Adjei deal close to collapse

Raphael Adjei to Malmö FF is on the verge of falling apart. The 18-year-old midfielder from Golden Boys FC was close to signing, but the transfer is now at serious risk (5). No details yet on what broke down.

Berglund on the rebuild

The window is not over. Stefano Vecchia, Ricardo Friedrich, and Arnor Sigurdsson could all leave, Berglund confirmed earlier. Diego Garcia is already in the door from Leganés, but the World Cup has slowed recruitment. Helstrup walks into a squad still taking shape.
