Häcken 3–2: a rough afternoon on Hisingen
Malmö lost 3–2 away at Häcken on Sunday. Five goals in a wild first half summed up the problem: MFF simply cannot defend right now (1) (2) (3) (4).
Gustav Lindgren was the difference. The 24-year-old ran Malmö ragged and was the driving force behind all three Häcken goals (1) (7). Erik Botheim pulled one back for MFF, but it was not enough (15).
Häcken's weapon? Set pieces and runs in behind. Malmö were cut open repeatedly. Botheim himself admitted after the game: "That's something we need to look at" (5) (6).
The post-match analysis was blunt. Expressen called the display "not worthy of Allsvenskan" (8). Fotbollskanalen put it even more plainly: MFF are "forgetting how to defend" (11).
The fix: Malmö need a centre-back
The defensive crisis is no longer something to paper over. Columnist Johan Flinck says Malmö's chief scout must find a centre-back — and fast (9) (10).
Fotbollskanalen listed it as the single most urgent problem facing the club right now (12). With Häcken unbeaten after seven rounds and openly talking about a title challenge (7), MFF cannot afford to keep leaking goals.
