The week the business became the story
Malmö FF are heading for another heavy loss, CEO Jimmy Rosengren has resigned, and more staff risk being forced out over the winter (4). Chairman Zlatko Rihter would not put a number on it: "We are reviewing our operations and we will come back with where we land" (4).
That is the line that defines this club's autumn, not the football. A club carrying the most expensive men's squad in Sweden and still cutting is not riding out a bad patch. It is running a rebuild it did not choose.
Eight place after 22 games, 33 points, and a goal difference of plus four is the table doing the talking (see the run below). The week's real news happened above the manager's head.

Rihter's plan is the actual sporting story
The chairman has been unusually concrete for someone mid-round of redundancies. Rihter says the top ambition stays, the football gets more modern, and recruitment gets narrower. His words: "We will invest more selectively than before in specialist quality. We will continue to see our own young talents take places in the squad. That should be the trend" (9) (11).
Fewer signings. More academy. And it explains the rest of the week.
The squad is already bending that way
Injuries up front have opened the door for Tarik Karic, 19. He made his A-team debut in a training match, is being compared to Markus Rosenberg, and could get his first competitive appearance against Kalmar FF (7) (9) (25). Karic's own version is quieter: "It is of course the dream to play in there, so I have to keep fighting in training and show myself" (7).
At the other end of the career span, Sead Haksabanovic confirmed he had contract offers in the summer window and stayed anyway. "There was contact from everywhere," he said (5) (17). One player choosing to stay, one being pushed through early. That is club policy in two people.
Kalmar on Monday, then the squeeze
Stian Gregersen picked up a minor head injury in training and is available for Kalmar FF at Eleda Stadion on Monday (1). Kalmar arrive with their own problems: Aboubacar Keita is a doubt, Gojani has had a setback, Söderbäck is uncertain (15) (18). Mathias Lühr's reading is that Malmö's crisis weighs heavier than Kalmar's goal drought (2).
Then BK Häcken on October 18 and Elfsborg away on October 23. Three games in twelve days. Watch whether Karic gets his league debut, and which name leaves the building next.
