Malmö FF studies Rögle and Skellefteå for operational inspiration

Malmö FF chairman Fredrik Göransson has revealed the club is studying best practices from ice hockey – specifically SHL clubs Rögle and Skellefteå – as the football side works to modernize its operations. "We can't copy straight across because we have a ball and they have a puck, but it's interesting how they work and how incredibly professional they've become," Göransson said (1). The unconventional move comes with Malmö sitting ninth in the Allsvenskan table and on the verge of appointing Eirik Horneland as their new head coach following the dismissal of Miguel Ángel Ramírez. After a turbulent spring, the club is looking beyond football for fresh ideas.
