Taha Ali says goodbye as Malmö FF sell to PAOK

Taha Ali leaves for PAOK

It is official. Taha Ali is leaving Malmö FF for Greek side PAOK after three and a half years at the club (1) (3). "After three and a half fantastic years, it's time for me to say goodbye," Ali said in a statement on Malmö's website (1). He had just over six months left on his contract, and the club chose to sell now rather than lose him for nothing (3). The winger scored the goal that sealed the 2023 league title, and his departure leaves a gap on the wing that the club now needs to fill (1) (3).

Sjöstrand out for the season with ACL tear

Oscar Sjöstrand will not play again in 2026. The 21-year-old winger has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and is targeting a comeback in 2027 (2). He suffered the injury in Sunday's 4–0 win against IFK Göteborg. Losing both Ali and Sjöstrand inside three days strips the wide positions bare just as Gaute Helstrup's side was climbing back into form.

Fan reactions

The mood on Reddit is resignation mixed with gratitude. Fans acknowledge the move makes sense given the contract situation, but losing the player who scored the golden goal in 2023 still stings. Read the full discussion here.
