City's move for Guler is dead
Arda Guler has turned City down. Both City and Arsenal held talks for the Real Madrid attacking midfielder, and he said no to both (2).
That closes off one option in midfield. City sit top of the Premier League on 18 points from six games, so this is not a squad in trouble, just a target who chose elsewhere.
Ipswich Town come to the Etihad on Saturday at 16:00 CEST. AEK Athens follow on Tuesday at 21:00 CEST, then Aston Villa away on Saturday October 24 at 13:30 CEST.

Pochettino on the 114 charges
Mauricio Pochettino went straight at it. "S'il est vrai qu'ils ont enfreint 114 règles, nous avons vécu une période de tromperie," he said, calling the Premier League's control system "gravement compromis" (1).
The word is tromperie. Deception. Pochettino's point is that no sanction repairs the damage, and the case covers 2009 to 2018 (1).
Talk around the case has been points deductions, relegation, stripped titles. None of that is decided. Pochettino is a rival manager giving an outside verdict, not a ruling.
The PSG night still stings
City lost 2–4 at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday. That is the one blot in an otherwise clean run.
Before it, City won 3–0 at Liverpool on Sunday, 5–3 at home to Sunderland on September 20, 1–0 at Manchester United on September 13 and 2–0 at Porto on September 8. Four wins, then PSG.
Form reads W W W W L. Still first. Still +11 on goal difference.
