The 114 charges are the story
Manchester City have been judged over 114 alleged financial fair play breaches covering 2009 to 2018 (1). Sanctions are being considered (6). This is the off-field fight that follows your club everywhere, and the fallout is global: the Spanish press frames it as one of two cases that "todo el planeta fútbol se siente afectado" (1).
That business period is the one the charges sit in, not the era of the current squad. Your team is top of the league on 15 points from five games, five wins from five (1). None of that is being questioned here.
Tebas says he saw it coming
La Liga president Javier Tebas did not stay quiet. "Ya lo advertí," he said. "Hablé del Manchester City y del PSG. Decirlo tuvo consecuencias. El Manchester City calificó públicamente mis declaraciones de 'ill-informed' y 'pure fiction'" (2).

He has been saying this for years. City called it fiction back then.
Mancini: not my concern
Roberto Mancini was City manager from December 2009 for about three and a half years (7), squarely inside the period the charges cover. His reaction: "Not my concern" (3).
He went further on the alleged double contract, saying it is not his problem, "ma loro semmai" (6) (7). Reports say he is linked to the breach findings from his tenure (3) (6).
Liverpool await a Gakpo scan before your visit
Cody Gakpo picked up an ankle injury, and Liverpool have received a scan update on it (4). The timing matters to you: your next match is at Liverpool on Sunday, October 11, 17:30 CEST.
Every Liverpool absence in that front line is one less problem for your defence.
City watching Pacho, PSG not selling
City and Arsenal have sent scouts to watch PSG defender Willian Pacho (5). PSG have no plans to sell. He extended his contract to June 2031 (5).
The scouting trip says City are looking at centre-back, not that a deal is close.
A busy January is being predicted
City are tipped to be active in the winter market as they chase their old level of dominance (8). Real Madrid and Manchester United are named alongside them, with Kylian Mbappé and Gonçalo Tristão Santos mentioned (8).
Unconfirmed. But the noise points one way: City expect to spend in January.
Brobbey's hat-trick put him on the radar
Brian Brobbey scored a hat-trick against City in the 5–3 win at the Etihad on Sunday, September 20 (9). Sunderland have no plans to sell him, despite interest from Manchester United, Tottenham and Ajax (8) (9).
Six goals conceded in your last two home league games, three of them to one striker. That is the part worth watching.
Fan reactions
City fans are doing what they always do with this case: arguing about how bad it gets. The thread getting the most traction is Liam Gallagher claiming someone in a "very very high position" told him the worst case is a fine and a transfer ban if the appeal fails. Another popular post is Sam Wallace's argument that rival clubs will not chase compensation. And the mood-lifter is a one-line post from a City sub: "first guy I've seen not saying we're going down." The gallows humour is holding up. (thread)
