Reijnders to Al Qadsiah as Rodri pushes for Barcelona exit

Reijnders out the door

Tijjani Reijnders is leaving for Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. Deal agreed for more than £50m, roughly €61m, one year after he arrived (1) (9) (10) (13). Al Qadsiah are coached by Brendan Rodgers. One season, then out.

Rodri is forcing his way out

Rodri wants the Barcelona move done now. He has asked for special permission to skip training as negotiations hit a critical point (4). City have already rejected Barcelona's second bid and are holding firm on the price (5) (8).

City want 80m euros for Rodri

The numbers are huge. City demand 80 million euros for Rodri, inside a deal that would exceed 210 million euros total (2). A serious profit on a player who looked irreplaceable under Pep.

Enzo Fernandez is the priority

City's top target to replace Rodri is Enzo Fernandez, with Chelsea setting a £120m deadline of Friday 5pm BST (11) (14). That deadline is today. Chelsea insist they would not sell until next summer if no bids land, and they say no bids have come in yet.

Mac Allister stays at Liverpool

One Rodri replacement is ruled out. Alexis Mac Allister's father Carlos shut down the links: "Alexis will stay at Liverpool, and we have not discussed any possibility of him leaving the club this summer" (15). That door is closed before you knock.

Tottenham want Savinho

Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay 100 million for Savinho (12). A monster bid for a player who spent much of last season as a reserve.

Community Shield in Cardiff on Sunday

Arsenal and City meet in the Community Shield in Cardiff on Sunday (6) (7). You arrive in better pre-season form: 1–1 with Inter Milan before losing on penalties, then 3–1 wins over K League All-Stars and Atletico Madrid (6).

Fan-reaktioner

City fans on Reddit are torn over Reijnders. Plenty are gutted he is going, pointing to 15 goal involvements in limited minutes as proof he deserved more time, and remembering him as the smile in every interview. Others are already down the rabbit hole comparing Nico González to Rodri's 2019–20 numbers, a sure sign the fanbase is bracing for the midfield to be rebuilt. See the farewell thread.
