A rival club, a fringe full-back, in January. You know how this looks from the outside.

Juventus are watching him too
Juventus are monitoring Ait-Nouri for a January approach (2). Two clubs on the same player. The market rates him even if the minutes do not.
A November meeting over Haaland
City will sit down with Erling Haaland's representatives in November to talk about his future plans (2). That is the biggest appointment of the season, and it is not a match.
Gusto and a right-back shortlist
City will return with a January offer for Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto if the asking price drops (2). A right-back also on Liverpool's radar is on City's list, and the Trent Alexander-Arnold question at Liverpool has been decided (3).
Villa beat you 2–1, Brighton next
Aston Villa 2–1 City on Saturday. You are still top: 21 points from 8 games, +11 goal difference. Form reads W L W W L.
Brighton at home on Saturday at 16:00 CET. Then RB Leipzig away in the Champions League on Wednesday 4 November, and Nottingham Forest away on Saturday 7 November.
Fan reactions
The subreddit has drifted toward the academy. One thread argues a sold academy player would still be a useful rotation option. The Ait-Nouri talk fits the same mood: selling is fine, selling to them is not.
