Carrick on the brink after 0–3 at Old Trafford

Carrick did not dodge it afterwards. "The responsibility is mine. What else can I say really right now? I totally understand the situation. I'm not expecting anything either way. I love this place and I'll always do what I feel is going to be the best for the football club" (2) (10) (11).

The promise did not land
Three days before the Bournemouth game, Carrick said: "We'll be a different team on Sunday. We have to be a different team on Sunday" (11). United were not. Tyler Adams' Bournemouth won by the same 3–0 scoreline they had managed against AC Milan in the Europa League (8).
Toby Alderweireld did not soften it on Match of the Day. He said there is no "togetherness" amongst the United squad, and pointed at the lack of intensity and fight (9).
You are 16th
Seven points from eight games. Goal difference of -3. The form reads D L D L L. The last three fixtures before Bournemouth: 0–2 at Atlético Madrid, 1–1 at Leeds, and 4–1 at Como (2).

Chelsea away, then Roma
Chelsea away on Saturday 31 October at 13:30. Then AS Roma at home in the Champions League on Tuesday 3 November, and Aston Villa at home on Sunday 8 November.
Selection for Chelsea is thin. Rashford is a 75% doubt with a hip issue. Mainoo and Sesko are out (6).
The women rescued a point against City
Manchester United 1–1 Manchester City in the Women's Super League. Elisabeth Terland scored late to end City's perfect start to the season (7).
Onana could be gone for good
Trabzonspor have moved to sign Andre Onana permanently from United. The club want the deal done before the end of the season for the goalkeeper they re-loaned in the summer (1).
Fan reactions
r/reddevils is split between accepting the sack and aiming the anger higher. The Ducker and Simon Stone threads dominate, but the sharper mood is Neville's attack on the players' professionalism and the 1958's "last chance saloon" post, which lands the blame squarely on ownership. Read the thread.
