Shaw and Sesko out at Chelsea, Bruno back in the XI

No Shaw, no Sesko at Stamford Bridge

Luke Shaw and Benjamin Sesko are out for the trip to Chelsea on Saturday. Kobbie Mainoo is a doubt after returning to training, and Marcus Rashford is doubtful with a hip problem (2).

Sesko is the long one. He will not play again in 2026, out until at least January 2027 with a shin injury (7). Fabrizio Romano: "Manchester United want their striker to be back in 2027 when 100% recovered" (7).

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are the attacking options Carrick has left (7). You are 16th on 7 points after eight games, with one point from the last five.

Bruno cleared the air and he plays

Bruno Fernandes had a clear-the-air meeting with Michael Carrick before training at Carrington on Tuesday morning (3). He returns to the XI at Chelsea.

Carrick leads the team out at Stamford Bridge (3). Your captain is back onside, and so is the manager.

Chelsea have problems of their own

Lacroix is a 75% doubt with a hamstring issue and Joao Pedro is out (8). Martinez and James are unconfirmed (8).

Kick-off is 12:30 on Saturday. Wait, the fact sheet says 13:30 CET. Either way, it is Saturday lunchtime at Stamford Bridge.

Schmeichel on Hojlund: "They would not even pass it to him"

Peter Schmeichel says Rasmus Hojlund was set up to fail at United. "He had players there who very openly would not even pass it to him" (1).

Hojlund has since been sold. Schmeichel's point is about recruitment as much as the player (1).

Lisandro could leave for nothing

Barcelona want Lisandro Martinez on a free, with Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan also interested (4). His United contract expires in June 2027, so foreign clubs can talk to him from 1 January 2027 (4).

United letting a centre-back of that value walk out of the door for zero is the kind of thing that hurts for years.

January window: one door shut, one still open

United have been told a £50m attacker is not for sale in January, with his club calling him indispensable (5).

On the other side, United keep watching Ismaïla Sarr, who has not signed a Crystal Palace extension. Palace value him at €60m (6).

United are also tracking Como defender Jacobo Ramón, 21, though Real Madrid hold a buy-back clause (9). Arsenal are watching him too (9).
