Tielemans is a United player
£35m, five years, done. Youri Tielemans has left Aston Villa for Manchester United after your club triggered his release clause (3). You get a proven Premier League midfielder who knows how to run a game. Former Villa scout Bryan King did not hide his frustration: "You'd be very foolish with the Champions League coming up this year and the Premier League, and all the other competitions, to get rid of a player of that quality, that is for sure" (3). Casemiro is gone, Ugarte is injured, and Tielemans walks straight into the XI.
Ornstein confirms Kone interest, Chelsea lurking
David Ornstein says United are looking at Manu Kone. His words: "From what we hear, a great market opportunity, the value that you could get him from Roma" (1). The 23-year-old France international would cost around £43m. Chelsea have now entered the race, opening talks of their own (8) (14). Roma may have a decision to make.
Carrick wants one more, an £80m name
Michael Carrick has asked INEOS to fund a third midfield signing. Three names on the list, each valued around £80m (6). Tielemans is one. Kone could be two. Carrick wants three, and he wants one of the expensive ones.

Fan reactions
Lisandro Martinez is the last United player standing at the World Cup. Argentina face England in the semifinal and Martinez started the match, with Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo on the bench for England (Reddit). One fan summed up the club post on Instagram: "Licha and Argentina have reached the final, commiserations to Kobbie, Marcus and England." The pride in Martinez is real, and so is the sting for the England boys.
