Olympiacos held 0–0 by NEC as Strefezza heads to Palermo

0–0 at home, whistles at full-time

Your team could not break through. Olympiacos 0–0 NEC in the third qualifying round of the Champions League on Tuesday, and the Karaiskakis crowd let them hear it at the whistle (1) (3) (4). Mendilibar did not sugarcoat it. "0–0 is not a bad result, NEC were better," he said afterwards (1). A Dutch side outplaying Olympiacos in Piraeus was not in the script, and the return leg in the Netherlands now demands a performance this team has not yet shown.

Strefezza lands in Italy, deal done

Gabriel Strefezza is gone. The Brazilian winger travelled to Italy on Tuesday to complete his €2.8 million move to Palermo (2). He had not yet spoken to Filippo Inzaghi but sounded pleased: "I'm happy for the trust they showed me, I want to give 100%" (2). Attacking depth takes a hit.

Saliakas plays for Olympiacos again, 10.5 years later

Manolis Saliakas featured in an official Olympiacos match on Tuesday for the first time since 2016 (5). The gap, 10 years and 6 months, is the second-longest between appearances in club history. Only Yaya Touré waited longer, returning after 12 years and 2 months (5).
