Puerta release clause stands, Bologna bid rejected

Racing Santander sporting director José María Aragón has made it clear: Gustavo Puerta will not leave unless his €20 million release clause is paid in full (1). Bologna tested that resolve with a €16 million bid, and it was rejected. Olympiacos retain interest in the Colombian midfielder, but Racing are in no mood to negotiate below the clause. "They've raised their level in training. We hope they stay," Aragón said of Puerta and teammate Jorge Salinas, acknowledging both have had offers to leave but have continued to train well (1). The message to any suitor is simple: meet the clause or move on.
