It is a genuine achievement, and it lands at a moment when PSG's academy pipeline needs the validation. The same week, however, young goalkeeper Martin James chose to sign his first professional contract at Lille rather than stay in Paris (4). One door opens, another closes. The academy produces, but it also leaks.
Barcola wants out
The most consequential story of the week is Bradley Barcola asking to leave the club, with Arsenal and Liverpool circling (3). This is not a fringe player testing the market. Barcola is a key attacking piece. If he goes, PSG need a replacement, and the name surfacing is Barcelona's Ferran Torres, a former Luis Enrique player with Spain (5). The problem? Zaïre-Emery, the problem-solver
Warren Zaïre-Emery featured in two remarkable stories. First, he revealed Luis Enrique apologised after benching him for the Champions League final, and said the apology meant a lot to him (6). What to watch next
The Barcola situation will dominate the coming days. If his camp formalises a transfer request, PSG must move fast. Ferran Torres looks like a non-starter given Flick's stance, so alternatives need to surface. Also keep an eye on Kang-in Lee, who played minimal minutes in the Champions League knockout rounds and is being closely watched by Atletico Madrid (12). A squad that reached a Champions League final could look quite different by the time the Super Cup arrives.
