Bale knows that room. He was in it. When he says Mourinho is the right man to settle the group, it carries weight that no club statement can match.
The Olise Circus
Real Madrid issued an official denial this week: no contact with Michael Olise, no negotiations with Bayern Munich (7)(8). Bayern president Herbert Hainer followed with remarkable bluntness, telling Florentino Pérez he "can save himself the trouble" because Bayern are "not a selling club" (5)(11).
And yet. Spanish journalist 'Látigo' Serrano insists Madrid will make an offer after the World Cup (6). The deal structure being discussed across multiple outlets tells the real story: Madrid would sell either Aurélien Tchouaméni or Eduardo Camavinga to fund the move (9)(11). Manchester United have already made contact for Camavinga, who Madrid are willing to let go for €60m (12).

The denial and the reporting are not contradictory. They are two halves of the same story. Madrid want Olise. Bayern do not want to sell. Something has to give, and that something is almost certainly one of the French midfielders.
Mourinho's First Move
Mourinho has reportedly confirmed the first departure of the summer (10). The Camavinga situation is the most advanced: United are circling, the price is set, and the manager has identified the midfield as the area needing most work (12)(9).
Camavinga arrived with enormous promise. He leaves, if the reporting holds, as the financial mechanism for a different kind of rebuild. This is the new Madrid under Mourinho and Pérez. No sentiment. Sell from a position of strength, where options exist, to fund a player who raises the ceiling. The choice between Tchouaméni and Camavinga is brutal. The logic behind it is clear.
The Incoming
The Denzel Dumfries deal is done and the reaction from Italy says everything. Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez called it "a great signing for Real Madrid" and "a fantastic choice," adding he was sorry to lose "a tremendous player, the kind you always want on your team" (16).
Marc Cucurella has reportedly reached an agreement to join from Chelsea, with the fee landing around £104m (3). The left-back position has been a problem Madrid have patched over for two seasons. Cucurella solves it with a player entering his prime.
Add the obligation to sell a centre-back this summer (2) and the defensive rebuild becomes the clearest narrative of the window. Ibrahima Konaté remains a target. Change is coming at the back, and it is coming fast.

Fernández at Madrid makes more sense than Olise in some ways: he is cheaper, more available, and plays a position of clearer need. Watch that space.
