Mourinho targets Bernardo Silva as Madrid election looms

Mourinho pushing for Bernardo Silva

José Mourinho is already laying out his transfer demands before the presidential election is even decided. The Portuguese coach, promised by incumbent Florentino Pérez if he wins, wants Bernardo Silva from Manchester City as a priority signing (1).

Bernardo himself has kept his cards close regarding his future. Speaking at the World Cup, the 31-year-old admitted how difficult it is being away from his young family during the tournament: "Tudo o que faço agora é querer fazê-la feliz. Sempre quisemos ter uma família grande e isso é apenas o começo." He added they plan on a third child, maybe a fourth (6). A move to Madrid would bring him closer to home.

Newcastle interest could net Madrid €17M+

Víctor Muñoz has a €40 million release clause at Osasuna and Newcastle are pushing hard to trigger it (2) (3). Madrid hold a sell-on clause that would see them pocket more than €17 million from any deal. Not bad for a player who left the club permanently.

Calafiori links resurface

Riccardo Calafiori's name is back in the Madrid orbit. Arsenal are now willing to listen to offers for the Italian defender, which could open the door for a Santiago Bernabéu move (4). Mourinho is also said to want another centre-back, and Calafiori's versatility across the backline fits that profile.

Sheringham: Trent made for Arsenal

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has weighed in on Trent Alexander-Arnold, claiming the Madrid right-back would be perfect for Arsenal. "If you put Trent in an organised, structured back four, and they work as a unit, that's what playing in a team like Arsenal is all about," Sheringham said (5). Madrid fans will shrug, Trent is going nowhere.

Fan reactions

The subreddit is buzzing about Como's plans to raid La Fábrica again. Fàbregas reportedly wants Dani Carvajal on a free and is eyeing young talents Gonzalo García and César Palacios, with Madrid getting affordable buy-back clauses in return. Separately, Nico Paz prefers one more season in Italy before returning, with Madrid holding a €9 million buy-back this summer. Fans seem divided on letting another youngster stay abroad.
