Assadi is AIK's record signing
Lucas Assadi has signed for AIK on a contract through 2030. It is the club's most expensive transfer ever (1) (3). The Chilean international confirmed the move on August 27 (5).
"Jag känner en stor stolthet och glädje över att komma till Sverige och skriva på för AIK," Assadi said. He added that talks with head coach José Riveiro and the rest of the staff made him certain this was the right step (1).
He takes the number 10
AIK has reserved the number 10 shirt for Assadi (8) (9) (10). A clear signal: the attack now runs through him.

Takkula on why he fits
Recruitment chief Miika Takkula explained the move: "Lucas är en mycket tekniskt skicklig och intelligent spelare som kan spela både centralt och ute på kanten" (1) (5). Takkula pointed to Assadi's performance data and his constant drive to push attacks forward with the ball, his passing, and his runs.
Pinilla not impressed
Former Chile international Mauricio Pinilla is blunt: "Es un país pequeño. Un equipo pequeño." He says Assadi had the quality for a better club and hopes the stay is short, "ojalá dure poquito ahí" (4).
Derby debut on Sunday
AIK face Hammarby in the Stockholm derby this Sunday, and more than 43,000 tickets are sold (4) (7) (9). Assadi's possible debut could come at home against your biggest rivals.
Universidad de Chile leaves the door open
The selling club bid farewell with warmth: "La U siempre será tu casa" (11). Assadi's old club is already talking about a potential future return.
Lauritsen goes elsewhere
Rasmus Lauritsen, a serious AIK target before this season, has left Bröndby for Greek club Iraklis (12). That transfer path is now closed.
