Carlstrand shines on first start as AIK edge Örgryte 4–3

Riveiro gambled, Carlstrand delivered

Your team went to Gamla Ullevi missing 13 players and came home with three points. AIK beat Örgryte 4–3 on Saturday, and Linus Carlstrand was the hero in his first start for the club (1)(3)(4).

José Riveiro let the young forwards loose, and it paid off. AIK overturned an early Örgryte lead to win a chaotic, end-to-end match (4). This was a gutsy response after the 0–3 home loss to the same opponent on August 2.

Thirteen out, still enough

The injury and suspension list was brutal. Johan Hove served a ban. Martin Ellingsen, Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, Diogo Tomas, Henry Atola, Taha Ayari, Ibrahim Cissé, Eskil Edh, Axel Kouame, Fredrik Nissen, Charlie Pavey, Andreas Redkin, and Stanley Wilson were all unavailable (6)(7).

Riveiro had no choice but to trust the kids. Carlstrand took that chance and ran with it (3).

Djurgården next, a derby with stakes

AIK sit 6th with 22 points from 15 matches. Next up is Djurgården away on Sunday, August 16. A derby win would push your team right back into the European conversation.
