Elias Filet talks underway as Celtic face striker battle

Celtic accelerate chase for 20-goal striker

Celtic are in talks to sign Elias Filet, the FC Aarau striker who hit 20 goals this season. Genk and Lorient are also in the race, but the Hoops are pushing to get it done (2) (4). Filet has been described as a "deadly weapon" and would arrive to strengthen an attack that is about to lose serious talent this summer. Martin O'Neill wants reinforcements, and the 24-year-old Frenchman fits the bill.

Bobby Clark on the radar, and Klopp loved him

Celtic are pursuing midfielder Bobby Clark, who is available for a cut-price fee from Red Bull Salzburg (5). Jurgen Klopp raved about the 21-year-old during his Liverpool days: "He played incredibly. It was his first goal, but he won the ball back after another one." Rangers are also sniffing around, which only raises the stakes. Clark would be one for both the present and future under O'Neill.

Sporting friendly set for July

Your pre-season plans just got a bit tastier. Celtic will face Sporting in a friendly on 14 July in the Algarve (1) (3). It is a rematch of sorts, the two sides met in pre-season last year as well. A good early test against Portuguese opposition as O'Neill shapes the squad for the new campaign.

Quick hits

Celtic have also been linked with a midfielder named Tahirovic in the gossip pages, though details are thin and no bid has been reported (6). One to keep an eye on but far from advanced.
