Luis Palma leaves Celtic for Lech Poznan in £3.5m deal

Palma to Poznan, done at £3.5m

Luis Palma is gone. The winger has left Celtic permanently for Polish side Lech Poznan in a £3.5m deal, ending a three-year spell at Parkhead (3).

Palma posted an emotional farewell, and Paulo Bernardo was quick to respond: "It's been a pleasure playing with you, you're an absolute legend, I wish you all the best!" (3)

He's the first domino to fall in what's shaping up to be a busy summer of change under Martin O'Neill.

O'Neill opens the door for Maeda

Martin O'Neill has all but confirmed Daizen Maeda will be allowed to leave this summer. The manager didn't mince words: "If I was around, I wouldn't stop Daizen from going. He deserves it. He has paid his dues at this football club massively." (4)

He went further: "Daizen's last seven weeks have been absolutely Larssonesque." That's about as high as praise gets from a man who managed the King of Kings himself (4).

Wolfsburg are circling, and with O'Neill now staying on, Celtic are expected to accept offers for the forward.

Keane plan still lurking in the background

The Robbie Keane succession plan isn't dead, it's just been paused. The board shelved the idea after fan protests rattled them, but former Everton CEO Keith Wyness says it's still on the table as a future handover.

"It does appear the board have had their hand pushed again by the fanbase," Wyness said. "I did think that Martin was always in a strong position, having delivered a double, to go back in to see Dermot Desmond and pretty much tell him what he wanted." (1)

O'Neill got his one-year deal. When that runs out, Keane could be waiting.

Oh scores World Cup winner

Former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-Gyu scored the winner for South Korea in a World Cup qualifier, a 2–1 victory over the Czech Republic (2).

He's now at Besiktas after leaving Glasgow, and his career nearly took a different turn – a move to Stuttgart collapsed because of a knee injury that didn't require surgery (2). He plays his club football in Turkey now, but Celtic fans will recognize the big man's knack for popping up in big moments.
