O'Neill stays, one-year deal sealed
Martin O'Neill is staying on as permanent Celtic manager. The 74-year-old has agreed a one-year deal after stabilizing the club and delivering a domestic double as interim boss, the league and Scottish Cup both heading to Parkhead.
Former Celtic and United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider: "Celtic have decided they're sticking with Martin O'Neill. He's done them a massive favour, he's done a fantastic job on an interim basis, won the league, won the cup, and the players seemed to be happy under him." (1)
The appointment ends any lingering uncertainty after Wilfried Nancy's brief and damaging spell earlier in the season.

Keane appointment blocked by fan fury
The board had lined up Robbie Keane as the long-term successor, but large-scale fan protests forced them to pull the plug.
"Large sections of the fans have been clear with how they feel about Keane," Brown told Football Insider. "From a Celtic point of view, that can have a big impact, because there have already been tensions between the board and the fans." (4)
O'Neill was the fallback, and the safer bet. But Dermot Desmond reportedly still wants Keane for 2027, a plan that would reignite those same board-fan tensions all over again. (3)
Hatate exit looms, Breum targeted
Reo Hatate has told the club he wants to leave, and Celtic are already moving on a replacement: Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Jakob Breum. The Dane would fill the creative gap, with Benjamin Nygren also hinting at a summer exit and Arne Engels and Paul Bernardo both facing unclear futures. Hungarian international Milan Vitalis, currently at Gyor, is another name on the midfield shortlist. (2)
