Sutton: Celtic missed the boat on Just
Chris Sutton did not hold back. After Elijah Just scored twice for New Zealand in a 2–2 draw with Iran at the World Cup on Tuesday, the former Celtic striker said the club will now pay the price for waiting. "Celtic should've snapped Elijah Just up before now… now it could really cost them… tremendous performance from him," Sutton said (2). The Motherwell winger, who your team have tracked, just put himself in the shop window for every scout watching the tournament. Any deal now costs more, and the competition is stiffer.
Campbell loan being explored
Your club are lining up a loan move for Borussia Dortmund winger Cole Campbell, with James Forrest approaching the end of his career and Hyun-jun Yang not locking down the right flank (1). Campbell, 19, is a USA youth international who made his Bundesliga debut last season. Dortmund are open to a temporary deal to get him first-team minutes. Rakel Karvelsson of Hoffenheim has also been mentioned, but Campbell appears to be the primary target.
Astana's Basic scouted at the World Cup
Celtic scouts are watching Astana midfielder Ivan Basic at the World Cup, and Mick Brown, formerly a scout and coach in England, says a summer move is on the cards (3). Basic has impressed for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The level he plays at in Kazakhstan is the obvious question mark, but Brown drew a direct comparison: "You look at somebody like Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, he spent a large spell of his career in Georgia before moving to Italy, and now he's one of the best in the world" (3). Celtic see midfield as a priority and are doing their homework.
