Alajbegović picks Juventus as Chelsea pivot to veterans

Juventus snatch Alajbegović

Kerim Alajbegović is heading to Turin, not Stamford Bridge. Juventus have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the 19-year-old striker at a fixed fee of €33m, rising to €40m with bonuses (3) (8) (10). Chelsea had been in talks for some time but saw him as a project player destined for a loan. Juventus offered him a first-team role and won the race (3) (8). Medical and signing still pending, but the deal is done.

Henderson and Welbeck incoming

Two veterans are walking through the door. Fabrizio Romano has given his "here we go" for Jordan Henderson, whose Brentford contract has been terminated by verbal agreement (1) (2) (7). The former Liverpool captain is set to join on a free two-year deal until 2028. Danny Welbeck is also expected to arrive on a free transfer (1). The double signing puts squad places at risk for younger players, with four names under threat (1).

Barcola says no

Bradley Barcola has rejected Chelsea's concrete interest. The PSG winger wants Liverpool under Andoni Iraola, and the feeling is mutual, Liverpool have him as a top priority (4). Romano put it bluntly: "Barcola wants to go to Liverpool" (4). Chelsea are out.

Lacroix deal done

Maxence Lacroix is a Chelsea player. Documents are counter-signed between Chelsea and Crystal Palace, and the official statement is next (5). Another defensive addition for Xabi Alonso's rebuild.

Enzo could stay after all

Enzo Fernandez might not be going anywhere. Manchester City and Real Madrid are both pursuing other midfield targets, which could mean Fernandez remains at Chelsea (9). Nothing confirmed, but the market is working in your favour.

Chelsea and Arsenal tracking Ukrainian teen

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are watching Adam Guram, the highly-rated Ukrainian teenager currently at Hajduk Split (12). No formal bid yet, just eyes on the player.

Hampton signs new deal, eyes trophies

Hannah Hampton has signed a new two-year contract with Chelsea Women on Tuesday (6). The goalkeeper made her intentions clear: "The prospect of winning three trophies this season really pushes us on throughout the season" (6). Chelsea finished third in the WSL last season. Hampton wants more.

Fan reactions

The mood is split. Fans are buzzing that Caicedo has linked up with the squad in Sydney ahead of the new season, while the Lacroix confirmation has landed well, Romano's update on the counter-signed documents is being shared widely. The Alajbegović miss stings, though, one thread notes Chelsea saw him as a loan project while Juventus offered a genuine first-team path. Separately, reports of a €3m loan with a €20m-plus-bonuses buy option for Benoît Badiashile to Napoli are also circulating among supporters. Read the full discussion
