The Enzo Fernandez conundrum
Manchester City want Enzo Fernandez. They want him badly enough to name him internally as an alternative to Elliot Anderson, with a reported €121m valuation floating around (14) (19). And here is the uncomfortable truth: Fernandez has underwhelmed. A World Cup winner who has never quite looked at home in English football, and now the prospect of selling him to a direct rival feels less like a betrayal and more like a business decision.
But selling your record midfield signing to City, while Enzo Maresca is reportedly already speaking to Marc Cucurella about a reunion at the Etihad (6), sets a dangerous precedent. If Chelsea become a feeder club for Pep Guardiola's machine, the rebuild Alonso has been promised becomes a joke before it starts.
Keep what is yours: Colwill and Acheampong
At least the club is drawing lines. Chelsea have made it clear: Levi Colwill will not be sold to Liverpool (9). Josh Acheampong will not be sold to Manchester United (8). These are the right calls. Colwill is a future England regular. Acheampong is rated as "untouchable" internally (13). In a summer of inevitable departures, protecting the academy spine is non-negotiable.
The same logic must apply to Cole Palmer. Reports that he "could be tempted" away (2) cannot be dismissed as gossip. Palmer has been the one unqualified success of this miserable season. Lose him, and the Alonso project starts in a hole.
Sunderland: one last shot
Sunday is not a dead rubber. Chelsea can still qualify for Europe on the final day (16), and Joao Pedro and Levi Colwill have both returned to training ahead of the trip to Sunderland (7). The margins are thin, the form patchy, but three points would at least give the summer a different complexion.
What to watch for

The Thiago Silva situation is unresolved, with Milan offering a playing contract while Chelsea want him as a coach (4).
