A derby to remember, a European draw to fear
Four goals, three points, and Södermalm will be insufferable all week. Hammarby dismantled AIK 4–1 in the derby, and the scoreline does not lie (3) (4). The derby was over before it started

What matters here is not just the margin but the manner. Hammarby did not sit back and manage the game after going ahead, they kept pushing (4). The win does not fix everything. The Allsvenskan position, fourth with 17 points from 11 games and a plus-11 goal difference, is solid but unspectacular. The last five in the league read L L before this. But a derby rout resets the emotional calendar. For one night, nobody was worrying about the bigger picture.
Europe is coming, and it is serious
While the derby celebrations were still going, Hammarby's men's team learned their Europa League qualifying opponent: Anderlecht, with the first leg on July 9 (2) (5) (11). This is a step up in class, no point pretending otherwise. Ludwig Augustinsson's current club are a proper European name, and they will not be caught cold by a Stockholm side riding derby adrenaline.
Fredrik Hammar, who knows both clubs, called it a strong opponent but at the right moment (9). Anderlecht legend Pär Zetterberg was blunt: Hammarby are "a lot stronger than Häcken" and a club with "fanatical support" (10). Respect from Belgium, but respect does not win ties.
This draw gives the summer its narrative spine. The derby is the memory. Anderlecht is the test.
Joramo says goodbye, and the women's team reloads
On the women's side, Emilie Joramo is leaving after two and a half years. "It is hard to put into words," she said, and that sentiment will resonate (6). Joramo was not just a squad player, she was a presence. Anderlecht. That is the only answer. The first leg is July 9, just over two weeks away, and it will shape how this entire season is remembered. Before that, the league rolls on, and Hammarby need to prove the derby was not a one-off. Two straight league losses before the AIK match remain on the record. The challenge now is turning a derby high into a run. The Belgians are watching.
