Lind and Abraham set the tone, then the machinery kept rolling
The streak is dead. Hammarby had not beaten Gais since 2013, a run Nahir Besara did not even know about: "Herregud. Nu när du säger det" (8). Then Victor Lind and Paulos Abraham scored and the late game against Gais was effectively finished, Hammarby 2–0 (1). Nordin Gerzic called it what it was on broadcast: total domination, the only positive for Gais being that it stood at just 2–0 (1).
Nobody should dress this up as routine. Gais have been a genuine bogey side for a decade, and Hammarby dismantled them without a flicker of the old nerves. That is what a title-chasing side looks like: 33 points from 17 games, +25 goal difference, one defeat in fifteen, four wins and a draw in the last five. Second place, breathing down Sirius.
The squad is stable, and that is the story nobody is writing
The transfer window is about to slam shut and the core is holding. Victor Eriksson says he counts on staying, swatting away the Middlesbrough noise: "Jag har inte ställt några krav" (6) (12). Hampus Skoglund, linked with eight clubs from Rangers to Lecce, says he expects to stay put too (7). Even the exits are edges, not the spine: Wilson Lindberg Uhrström heads for Häcken across town, and the resale clause on Williot Swedberg could quietly drop up to 33 million kronor into the pot (4) (5).
Henrik Rydström has spent the week amplifying exactly this. When Sirius coach Andreas Engelmark jabbed that the pressure sits on Hammarby, Rydström did not flinch: "Är det någonting jag vill installera här i Hammarby så är det att vi älskar att ha pressen" (13). A squad that stays together and a manager who leans into the favourite tag, that combination wins titles in the Allsvenskan.
What to watch
The derby. Sunday at AIK, the fixture that resets every table in Stockholm to zero, no matter the gap. Eriksson and Skoglund start it, Uhrström has left, and Rydström finally gets the test he has been talking about all week. Beat your rival in their own house with the title race this tight, and the pressure talk writes itself.
