Barcola agrees Liverpool move as Salah contract talks stall

Barcola agrees Liverpool move, Salah talks stall

Bradley Barcola has reached an agreement to join Liverpool from PSG. That is the word from multiple outlets on Wednesday (1) (2) (5). The French forward is the name on everyone's lips, but reports are split. Some sources call it a done deal, while the Liverpool Echo claims no agreement exists yet and talks are ongoing (1).

What is clear: Barcola wants the move. And Liverpool want him.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah's contract talks have stalled (1). Your Egyptian king is still at the club, but uncertainty lingers over the renewal. That one will run and run.

Dutch trio return to pre-season

Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch are back at Kirkby. The three Dutch internationals joined pre-season training ahead of Liverpool's second friendly, linking up with Andoni Iraola's squad for the first time (8). Van Dijk posted on social media too: "Back home."

Better late than never. Iraola now has the spine of his squad together with the new season approaching.

Fowler: Slot exit was inevitable

Robbie Fowler saw this coming. The Liverpool legend said he knew something "needed to happen" when watching Arne Slot's side last season (3). Fowler backed the switch to Iraola and said he is "very confident" the club will get their business done in the window (4). He namechecked Alexander Isak as one to watch.

Henderson's Chelsea move raises eyebrows

Jordan Henderson is close to joining Chelsea. That would be awkward enough for Liverpool fans, but here is the twist: Henderson once said he did not want to become a squad player sitting on the bench at Anfield (6). A move to Stamford Bridge hardly guarantees minutes. The irony is not lost.

Wrexham friendly up next

Liverpool face Wrexham next in pre-season, with the match previewed on Wednesday (7). No confirmed kick-off time yet, but it shapes up as another chance for Iraola to run the rule over his squad.

Dyche backtracks on "lower league" dig

Sean Dyche has clarified comments he made about Andoni Iraola playing "lower league football" (9). The former Everton boss said his words were taken out of context. Liverpool fans will take that with a pinch of salt.

Scott stays at Bournemouth?

Alex Scott is not leaving Bournemouth just yet. The Cherries are pushing for a new contract for the midfielder despite Liverpool links (10). That door may be closing.

Fan reactions

Fans are buzzing about the new adidas away kit, unveiled by Gravenberch, Mia Enderby and Hugo Ekitike in Chicago. The Van Dijk post drew plenty of love too, with supporters relieved to see the captain back and looking sharp. The Billy Hogan Bloomberg interview is doing the rounds, with one fan joking the interviewer "must have a Red somewhere in her family." Join the discussion here.
